A recent long-term study on semaglutide has shown promising results for sustained weight loss in adults with overweight or obesity but without diabetes. Over a 4-year period, participants taking once-weekly semaglutide lost an average of 10.2% of their body weight and 7.7cm from their waistline, compared to minimal changes in the placebo group.

Importantly, clinically meaningful weight loss was achieved across diverse demographics, including different sexes, races, ages, and body sizes. After 2 years, over half of the semaglutide-treated participants had moved down at least one BMI category, with 12% reaching a healthy BMI compared to only 1% in the placebo group1.

 The study also found that semaglutide treatment was associated with cardiovascular benefits, regardless of initial weight or amount of weight lost, suggesting potential improvements even for patients with milder obesity or modest weight reduction
